چکیده
This paper describes an approach for the identification of flood-susceptible areas contributing to sustainability these in Giofiros river basin covering area 184 km2, located Southern Greece. is prone flooding with devastating consequences on people, environment, and economy. In this context, a geographic information system (GIS)–based multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) method potential flood-prone at scale initially presented. Upstream very high flood–susceptible simulated point selected, which outlet created subbasin (169 km2). area, hydrological conducted based unit hydrograph (UH) theory simulating rainfall-runoff process. The UH calculated by applying three different methods: time-area diagram into GIS Soil Conservation Service (SCS) UH, Snyder synthetic UH. results show that two last methods underestimate flood peak relation method. completed through Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS) software from hydrographs are produced. using imported River Analysis (HEC-RAS) order hydraulic simulation be performed. output resulted hazard mapping maximum depth velocity along section mainstream downstream point. appear extremely useful preventing disaster making mitigation plans.

متن کاملSustainability-Based Flood Hazard Mapping of the Swannanoa River Watershed
An integrated framework is presented for sustainability-based flood hazard mapping of the Swannanoa River watershed in the state of North Carolina, U.S. The framework uses a hydrologic model for rainfall–runoff transformation, a two-dimensional unsteady hydraulic model flood simulation and a GIS-based multi-criteria decision-making technique for flood hazard mapping. Economic, social, and envir...
متن کاملIndia: Flood Management - Damodar River Basin
Information is provided about the approach and experience in flood management in the Damodar river basin of India. This is achieved through a scheme for the integrated operation of a number of reservoirs on that river and on its tributaries for the purpose of irrigation, hydropower generation and flood protection. Of particular interest is the recent change in policy towards a multi-disciplinar...
متن کاملFlood Risk and River Basin Management
The aim of this study is to identify the sources of uncertainty that induce the largest uncertainties in the model outcomes and quantify this uncertainty using expert elicitation. Analysis of expert opinions showed that the Qh-relation and the roughness predictor of the main channel cause the largest uncertainties for design water level computations. For effect studies, the floodplain topograph...
متن کاملFlood Risk and River Basin Management
Recent scenario studies on water management focus on one or two projection years and the effects on the water system and functions. The future is however more complex and dynamic. Therefore, we analyse transient scenarios in order to evaluate the performance of water management strategies. Current available simulation tools are not suitable for this purpose. Therefore, we have developed and use...
